I posted in the CPU section for some info but figure I'd get more help if I were to post the MB question in this section. About the only components I am set on are the CPU and Video card.
-Intel Pentium 4 2.6Ghz / 512k Cache / 800Mhz FSB / Socket 478 / HyperThreading
-ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB (Built by ATI)
I have searched through the site and am still unclear on which MB to purchase. I'd like to spend no more than $200 on the MB itself. A few I have seen that appear to be decent:
Abit IC7-G
P4C800-E DELUXE
DFI LAN Party Pro 875B
MSI Neo2-FISR
Which would I benefit the most from? When building a computer which component should I build around? The CPU?MB?MEMORY? Just curious as I'd like to build a decent computer this time around and not grow out of it as fast as the current one.
The best board is the P4P800-E. The best value is the Abit IS7. The biggest difference is features, although the P4P800-E is known to overclock higher. Performance difference is small, price difference is significant.
