The new Asus P4R800-VM

I was looking at the new Asus P4R800-VM as the bedrock of a new system. I don't need a terribly strong graphics engine, but I do need strong overall performance. How does the ATI chipset stack-up against the Intel 865 and SiS offerings out there?
I'd appreciate any input.

It seems the graphics on this chipset pretty much kick butt compared to any competition, over 2x the power of the nForce2 IGP. So you'll get a mid-power DX8 gaming engine. All the reviews I found used game benchmarks.
