HC Ladder

Well, for only the second time since 1.09 (when I had a hardcore level 99
zon), I was briefly on the hardcore ladder last night, with my new sorceress
(clvl 20). My wife was also on the necromancer (clvl 20) ladder, and Kasmir
was (and still is) on the assassin (clvl 17) ladder. The three of us played
through act one in game AGDHC last evening, Cinna and I continued for a bit
until we got our cubes.

Since I also started a necromancer, a barbarian, and another sorceress, I'll
likely not be on the ladder again. I prefer to have several characters in
development, instead of having all my hopes on one character. Makes it
easier when I lose one. :-)

Even in hardcore, some players have reached the high level 70's already.
Don't these people have to work, or sleep? :-)

Sleep?

That reminds me - did I tell you how the other night when I was
sleeping I was having dreams about being in Uber Tristram with all my
HC buddies taking on the uber-trio?

Kasmir is FAMOUS????!!!!!

Will wonders never cease.

Take a screenshot of that. He will relish that 15 minutes of fame.

He will surely be on again tonite once I tell about that one!

Something is amiss here. I just talked to him about 15 mins ago and he
was still alive.

Actually he has not played since last night. Check to make sure the
character name is exactly as he had it last night. He said he had to
place extra "j"s in it and given the name I can understand why.

AngelinaJolie was the name he was trying for

But he might have had

AngelinaJJJJoli (noy sure how many "j" he added)

He said he had to add the "j"s because there were other characters
with the same name.

I cringed when he told me MA assassin. I hate to see him closing in on
bosses once he reaches Travincal in NM.

But keep in mind he did get a BF sasin to the Maggot Lair in Hell and
she is still alive albeit in Non Ladder.

With the right crew and the right speed he can get there.

Before long he will have some better gear. Bongo and I won't let him
out of the gate sometimes without us dropping something on the ground
and having him check it out to see if he can use it.

And before you can say "your deeds of valor will be remembered" we'll
have the boy decked out in full battle regalia!!

Well, I just went to take a screenshot. He is still on the ladder, but as a
DEAD level 20 assassin. :-(

In truth, it's not too surprising. I told my wife last night that he was
headed for trouble, as I thought he was being much too aggressive. Not my
place to criticize, it's his character, but with junk equipment, in
hardcore, slow and steady is usually safer. In any case, he probably had
fun, and it's not hard to replace a level 20 character. :-)

I hope this setback doesn't discourage him too much.

Yup, you're correct. I'm at work, and was checking between interruptions,
and like I usually do when multitasking, blew it! :-)

He is indeed showing as alive and well on the assassin hardcore ladder.
Actually, I was wrong both times, as he is actually level 18, not the
seventeen that I posted from memory in the original post. AND, he's still
famous! :-)

Interesting that some characters either advance quicker, or are much more
popular, as in many classes, level 18 wouldn't even be close to being on the
ladder anymore, yet on the assassin ladder, he's well up the list. I think
the lowest was something like level eleven or thirteen the last that I
looked.

Sorry I missed you folks last night. I got on immediately after the reset
and didn't see anyone else on. So I jumped into an AB game. They were going
a little faster than I prefer, but we were making good progress, so I stuck
with them. Got to play a little bit this morning too. I'm pleased to
announced that Destroyer AGD-Chanter is L40 and 382/150 on the ladder when I
checked at lunch time. She still has a way to go, but her chant is pretty
good now. I'll send the new PW to all the usual suspects. Since this will be
a shared character I ask that everyone be careful with her. She has already
proven her value, helping by Sorc to blast to L18 and the middle of A2 in an
hour. Also, everyone keep an eye out for a 2 socket staff with +3 Enchant
(or even +2) so we can make her a Leaf staff. She already had the Ral-Tir
waiting.

I'll be on after dinner and I hope to hook up with y'all later tonight.

Regards-
Mark

Bongo-Fury

P.S.: I found an eth Crushflange mace, great weapon if anyone is building a
BF Assassin.

Betcha these characters are played by teams. When one goes to sleep, the
other one takes over.

Sorry, got home very late, plumb tired. Finally got online, but energy
level was so low that I just did the old guy shuffle, picking up a quest and
a waypoint, using far too much time and energy to do it. I did get another
mule burned in though. :-)

BF assassin is in my plan for character five, working on the other four now.
I wouldn't be ready for it for a couple of weeks, but if no one needs it
prior to that, I'd like it. However, if anyone needs it sooner, let them
have it. In any case, thanks for the kind offer. :-)

I have no idea why I like playing a BF assassin, I've had no luck at all
using them for magic finding, and they aren't fast enough killers to solo
big games easily, but I do enjoy them. :-)

On the other hand, neither my connection, nor my reflexes are good enough to
play a MA assassin, so I guess my only choices for an assassin are a pure
trapper, or a BF build.

Mark, I think I told you this in an AB game but for everyone's info...
since you have 2 comps, it may be worth rushing a level 15/16/17
character into nm and have that character shop nm charsi. Then, the
character shops for +3 enchant short staves.

Short staves will always get 2 sockets from Larzuk (if purchased in nm)
and there you will have your "leaf"able staff. Level under 18 makes it
easier to search the staves for sale. You only look at the ones with a
red background, enchant being a level 18 skill. Only a short staff can
get 2 sockets from Larzuk.

btw, in a game last night, i found onthe a +2 enchant 2 socket staff
from jamella (sp?).
