Is my friend able to run Battlefield Bad Company 2 well enough?

Hi all, my friend has a several year old computer now but really wants to be able to play Battlefield: Bad Company 2 with me. He passes the required system specs but falls pretty far from the recommended. Obviously he won't be able to run this game nearly as smoothly as he would like, but are his system specs formidable enough to warrant a PC purchase over an Xbox?

Processor: Core 2 Duo @ 2.0GHz
Memory: 2GB
Graphics: 256 MB Video Card (GeForce 7800 GT / ATI X1900)
DirectX®: DirectX 9, 10, and 11 support
Hard Drive: 15 GB


Recommended:

OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad or higher
Memory: 2GB
Graphics: 512 MB Video Card (GeForce GTX 260/ ATI Radeon 4870)
Controller Support: Support for Logitech G15 and G19 keyboard LCDs in multiplayer

Processor: AMD Athlon® 64 X2 3800+, dual core processor with AMD64 Technology
Memory: Installed: 2048 MB DDR2, 533 MHz, (PC4200) dual channel memory (two 1024 MB DIMMs)
Graphics: Nvidia 8500gt
250 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA II hard drive

Should be able to handle the game, just set his graphics to medium detail and see how it goes, may need a further tweak here in there, but that's trial and error.

Yeah I mean he obviously will not be able to have it run nicely... But it seems as if it will be able to work. I am looking forward to the release myself..
