Hey folks,

Just got through FLASHing my BIOS. Successfully I might add. Now I've got Multiplier combinations up the Yin-Yang!) I've got possibilities from 100/100 all the way up to 200/200.

My question, is it safe to say I can run the highest rated Socket A Athlon XP possible and would it be also safe to run higher rated RAM?

Take into account that the ECS K7S5A Pro is only meant to run up to a 2600+ w/266 and PC2100 RAM.

But now that the BIOS is "open" is it theoretically possible to do what I mentioned above. I already spoke to Crashman about this board but that was before I updated the BIOS.

I need input.

THX and Happy Holidays!!!

I have used 2 of these boards. The highest stable setting I used was 143/143. Others have run at 150/150 using the cheepoman bios. I recommend you get the best ddram you can afford now for future upgrades. I like mushkin, samsung, or micron memory for value and performance. Pc3200 should run ok in the k7s5a board; I used pc2700 for my parents system. Your highest and best value cpu would be the xp2400. A few xp2600's at 266 fsb are still around, but priced significantly higher.
