First, I want to thank everyone on this board for all the info. With this board, I was able to build my first system with no problems. Now on to my question:
How do I know if I have USB 2.0 enabled? My computer has 2 front case USB ports attached to MB headers, 4 external USB ports on the MB, and 2 more USB ports on the rear attached to MB headers. When I look at my device manager in XP, I see the following 10 items under USB controllers:
Intel(R) 82801EB USB Universal Host Controller-24D2
Intel(R) 82801EB USB Universal Host Controller-24D4
Intel(R) 82801EB USB Universal Host Controller-24D7
Intel(R) 82801EB USB Universal Host Controller-24DE
Intel(R) 82801EB USB Universal Host Controller-24DD
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
USB Root Hub
Selecting each driver, I find that the first five in the list above are in location: PCI bus 0 , device 29,with function 0 for the first one, then the same info but with functions 1,2,3,and 7 for the other drivers. The USB Root Hub drivers all say Location 0.
What do these drivers refer to, and do they indicate if I am running USB 2.0 on all ports?
My system:
Windows XP Home (with SP1 and all updates)
P4 2.6
Abit IS-7
2 x 256mb Kingston Value Ram PC3200
Western Digital 80 gig HD
LG CD RW
Chaintech MX440-8x video card
AMS Case
SP1 treats USB 2.0 devices the same as USB 1.0 devices but allows full 2.0 speed. In other words, you won't SEE that it's 2.0, but it is. The only way you can know for sure is to test it with a USB 2.0 device such as an external hard drive. USB 1.0 is 1.5MB/second, anything faster indicates USB 2.0 transfers
But you shouldn't NEED to test it since SP1 has everything installed automatically.

Thanks Crashman. As a follow-up, why do I have so many devices listed in device manager? Also, I forgot to add that the fourth USB device on my list above is actually:
"Intel(R) 82801EB USB2 Enhanced Host Controller-24DD".
Does this mean it is USB 2.0? Also, why just this device and not all the other devices?
You have a USB 2.0 controller and a bunch of hubs to provide you with a bunch of USB ports.
