Unable to install DirectX9

Hi, I' unable to install DirectX9c on my computer. Currently running on DX9b but can't run The Sims 2 and Battlefront without DX9c. Although DX9c's included in the cds I have here, I'm unable to install it.

Well, this is my problem. I get into the DX folder and double click the setup file. Go through the installation. Installation complete. I was surprised cause the installation hardly took a second to complete so I ran dxdiag to check if my DX9b has been updated to DX9c and found out that it's still on DX9b. Fine. Tried installing again, same result. I've been doing this for the past 5 hours now, really want my games to get on working.

I've got the .Net Framework 1.1 installed. Running on Windows XP Professional SP2, on Catalyst 4.9 (final) with CCC.

AMD 2600+
512 DDR333 RAM
ATi Radeon 9500 128MB
MSI K7N2G mainboard

Maybe you could download DX9 from Microsoft and run the install from there. That's how I put mine in. Good luck.

I've got two copies of DX9c on the cds, I guess chances of both being faulty's really slim. I'm on a 56.6kbbps connection here so I downloading takes some time.
