hey fellas, i currently have an MSI K7N2GM-IL (here is a link to it's site, http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=437)

i'm trying to upgrade the cpu it uses as currently its only on a 1gig... but i can't figure out the FSB crap anymore. it says it handles up to 166, but every AMD processor i can find on pricewatch.com says it uses 266.

can i use barton core cpus? i'm wanting to upgrade to a 2800+... can someone please help me with what processors i can use with this board?

.adam.

The 166mhz on the motherboard manual means 166 x 2 = 333.
What you saw on the AMD cpu spec 266 is 266 / 2 = 133mhz.

This is call duoble data rate(DDR), meaning two data are transfer every one cycle.

Conclusion, you motherboard can support that 266 AMD cpu, and also 333 one
