When I go to play any of my games the screen goes black and stops working.I have a HP Pavillon with an ultra 71-princeton 17"monitor.I also installed a voodoo 2000 PCI graphics card. I am unsure if I have a monitor or software/hardware setup problem- any help would be most appreciated-Russell

Has it worked in the past?

Can you get back to Windows with the Windows key or Ctrl-Alt-Del?

Or do you have to reboot the computer?

Does your monitor switch into standby mode or remain on? (Usually, green light = on, orange = standby).

This has been happening to me as well.
I've got an Intel Quad Q6600, EVGA gf8800 GTS OC, 2gb OCZ reaper 8500, and Asus p5k in an Antec Sonata II Case.

It has worked well in the past

Can't get back into windows. Have to reboot

Monitor goes into standby mode.

This has been happening with CS source, TrackMania, Other HL2 mods, Combat arms, and other similar games. It goes black when it finishes loading, and it tries to enter the game. I'm thinking the problem is graphics related, but I've updated drivers and directx.

Regular browsing and other non-graphic intensive activities are no problem.

Any help appreciated.
