I have a refurb P4 1.9 MHz Compaq (type unknown) with 2100 memory (WiXP). The computer has no AGP slot. Is there any advantage upgrading my motherboard? And can I carry my memory and components to a better board? What socket is this P4 processor likely? Use computer for kids games and email. Sorry if I sound newB, Any input appreciated,

Sorry, the whole computer is a waste of time.

The P4 1.9 was a Williamette core, these things were PAINFULLY slow, in fact there are PIII systems that are faster. P4 1.9~~PIII 1.26. And there's no AGP slot because this entire system was designed to be slow, trashy, and non-upgradeable from the beginning.

It doesn't really matter what socket that CPU is using because it will always be a slow processor. Use it as it is and as long as it was cheap, you'll be happy.
