Omid's latest hypocracy: Who's REALLY with you?

Omid's <A HREF="http://www.tomshardware.com/column/20040101/index.html" target="_new">Latest Rant</A> has him whining about...whiners again, likening their action to some communist conspiracy against the computer industry. His definition of a "whiner" is anyone who voices disagreement with him over the problems with the industry and those watchdogs keeping an eye on producers, of course. And he's the hero, protecting us from the corruption of such influences?

Wait, all I've ask for is a little bit of flexibility (aka, CHOICE) in system hardware, and the highest quality possible within a price range. Wasn't the biggest problem with the Communist system the lack of free choice? Hmm, so then I read <A HREF="http://www6.tomshardware.com/business/20031216/exchange-01.html" target="_new">This Page</A> of the THG conference review:

Ah, do I see someone looking to eliminate free choice? What, to save venders a little money? But isn't this a consumer market?

Could his "anti-communist" rant really be covering a communist-style conspiracy to undermine consumer controll? Parallism can be found in communism for sure, where the government controlled everything and chose for the people what would be in their best interest. In this case, his plan is for industry to controll the market and decide for the consumer what's in their best interest. His plan to make the white box industry into "baby Dells" while maintaining that they are the opposite could easily be perceived as part of his agenda.

So who's REALLY looking out for you? You'll notice a number of people in this forum who try to settle arguments instead of start them. People who would rather inform than derogate. People like (initials used) HG, GW, P3M, and of course CM. And lots of other helpfull people who deserve mention (but not at this time).

So who's REALLY looking out for you? It's not always the man in power (the "lowely journalist" ), it's often that helpfull forum member who's trying to help you make decisions you won't regret.

Amen to that. I mean when I have a specific problem and this is most of the time I go here to the Forum. 9 times out of 10 someone will give me a reply and I've never been disappointed. If I doubt anyone then I'll do more extensive research.

But guys, this rant from Omid is just his opinion. You can read it, laugh at it, take it seriously... whatever. Fact is you can't change it. You don't have to accept it either.

Hey !!!! Tree Huggers should be eliminated from the face of the earth they are the whiners.

I BASS fish and I think it should be legal to use the BASS boat to cut a Canoe in half if it is paddling through one of my favourite BASS Holes.

LOL...Not really but it is because of the tree huggers that we cant explore the sciences and space and inner space and just about any other thing we want to look at or do.

Tree Huggers wont let us cut down trees or use Fossil fuels or nuclear power to explore space.

Tree Huggers, whiners are the first ones to cry when they have no toilet tissue to wipe their collective asses with. Or their is no HOT water to bath with or the tea pot has no electricity to make tea with.

Yes, well I suppose you could have conservative communist and liberal capitalist, except that liberalism favors socialism...

Anyway, free market is the point of capitalism, and such a free market is normally controlled by consumer demand. Taking that away from the consumer is therefor the antithesis of capatalism. Anti-trust laws are meant to keep large companies from doing just that.
