For $1.00US more you can get the 2.6c RETAIL from Newegg.com you also get a 3 YEAR MFG WARRANTY w/hsf(stock).

OEM is usually 30 day warranty. My two cents.

Yeah, you are right. It is a one day sale that I hadn't seen before. Looks like I have to make my selections fast.

I've read some posts in other forums and such that bashes that Geil RAM. I've also read reviews that says they are good RAm. Any opinions about the RAM. The only other 1GB ram dual package is the OCZ performance Series pc-3500 but it costs $227. I'm already busting my budget with the Geil, is the OCZ THAT much better?

Where do you plan to get the Radeon 9500 pro from? As far as i know they have stopped making them. It sounds like a pretty sweet setup, but i would do what arthurh said and go for the retail version of the P4 and not bother buying a new hsf. The hsf that comes wid the P4s is pretty gud and with pc3500 RAM you will only really be able to clock to about 2.8-2.9Ghz.

OK, I think I'm actually starting to get a better handle on this.

The heatsink is for future usage. I understand that right now the PC-3500 isn't going to allow for a whole lot of wiggle room in my CPU, but I figure 1 GB is better than 512 of anything else. Half a year from now I might consider buying 1GB of new RAM (PC-4000) which should be cheaper by then (you think???). So I would then really want a heatsink and would rather not have to take the board out and do all that then.

Does this sound like valid reasoning?
