Does anybody know if nVidia is going to revamp the nforce2 chipset to add SATA and Gigabit Ethernet? If so any idea about when? Thanks.

Well, the nforce-2 chipset has already been 'revamped' to include SATA support. These new chipsets have an 'ultra 400' in their name.

The ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe already has SATA and Gigabit LAN. However, these are operated through separate chips on the board. If you're talking about SATA/Gigabit LAN being integrated into the south bridge, I don't think that's going to happen. There was a rumored "MCP-S" with SATA support, but I don't think that south bridge ever saw production.

I was looking for integrated SATA and Gigabit support. Like the 865 and 875 chipsets for Intel. I'm thinking of building a new computer to replace my current P3 system and I can't choose between An Athlon XP system and a P4c system. Choice of chipset is a big factor.

In theory to get it off of the PCI bus and also to get a board with more storage interfaces. i.e. A board with 2 parallel ATA channels (4 devices) and 2 SATA channels on the south bridge plus a SATA raid controller (2 or 4 devices)

I have in mind to build a video edit/game rig with 2 raided raptors for system and games and two raided 120GB+ drives to store and edit high res video.
