Audio running an Xbox 360 through Monitor

I am planning to buy a 360 and want to be able to run it through my computer monitor to save money/room (living in the dorms). The monitor has built in speakers (that I'd like to keep using) and both DVI and VGA ports. I plan to use the Microsoft licensed console-to-vga cables, but I am not sure if this will run the audio signal to these built in speakers. Can anyone confirm/deny this for me? (the monitor is a HP vp17 if that helps) Thanks.

  1. What type of audio plugin is on the monitor? I know on ps3 you can use a cable similar to this to run audio through pc speakers.

However if you just need to convert the rca plugs to a 1/8 inch headphone jack, maybe something like this.
