I need to know if the PCI Simple Communication Controller is located in the bios or in the chipset drivers. I am going to replace the motherboard if it is in the bios and just keep looking for the driver if it is in the chipset drivers. This would be a big help to locate the proper location. I am getting both responses on some forums.
PS: I have tried both the MB install CD and the XP disk to load this driver. System is an AMD 761 with VIA 686B using Tbred and crucial memory. Trying to get the dang PCI Supra modem to operate and these drivers keep it from loading properly. Am using WinXP Home. Have not ever flashed the bios, but have done almost everything else to a puter. MB is EPOX EP-8K7A.
Replacing the MB is no biggie, got another w/same chipset for $21 at Newegg.com re-furb (Bless them).
