Ooh ooh... thne maybe you can help me, I got this strange network problem:
I have a Win2k Proffesional system and the other 3 computers in my LAN have Win98(SE)... I had performance problems while opening shared folders on the other PCs so I searched the web for a solution and they said I should delete a registry key to solve the problem. Now when my PC is turned on inside the LAN I can open all shared folders on the LAN with no problem... but the other 3 PCs can't open anything or see eachother in Local Network with filesharing... but the shared printers work and games run perfect. You know how I can fix this?
In [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software \Microsoft \Windows \CurrentVersion \Explorer \RemoteComputer \NameSpace]
I deleted the sub-key named:
{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF}
I'm not totally sure this key deleting is the cause of the problem, because I did this after a few days when I just got Win2k... so I didn't really tried the network.
I also tried setting the Win98 Network Logon to Windows Logon instead of Microsoft Family Logon... but that didn't help. I don't really want to change it to 'Client for Microsoft-Networks' logon... because that will make the Win98 PCs ask for a password (which isn't needed) at logon, which is very irritating. But maybe you know a way to make that logon fully automatic.
