Hello,

I play COD WAW alot and I want upgrade my Graphics card. But not sure on which one I should get. I have an Dell Inspiron 530 with Quad Core Q6600 processor, 3G of memory, and a 750Watt PSU. I currently have the ATI Radeon HD3650 256MB card. Now I want to stay under a $100 if at all possible. Any suggestions?

based on that article the 4850 for just under $100. if you want dx11, which neither of the cod games utilize, then you would need a 5xxx series card.

i played cod waw with an 8800gt 512mb and it was good, but would dip into the 40fps range. the 4850 should handle it easily. i can't comment on mw2 performance, but they aren't worlds apart graphically.

Do you think a GEFORCE 9500GT 1GB DDR3 would work ok?

Video Card
Minimum: Shader 3.0 or better, 256MB Nvidia GeForce 6600GT/ATI Radeon 1600XT or better
For World at war.

Video Card
Minimum: 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT or better or ATI Radeon 1600 XT or better
For MW2

I use a quick reference site for this sort of thing, it's http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/CYRI/intro.aspx

It will not only tell you if your computers current rig will play the game, but it will also give you the minimum ( and sometimes) recommended requirements.

Hope this helps you.

I know what I have right now will work but I'm interested is upgrading my Graphics card. I want a better one, then the one I have right now. But I do have a budget of $125.

I think MayDay had is spot on. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applica [...] VqHCjCdwwp

The reason the geforce won't work is because it has a different plugin to your motherboard then the one you currently have. So it would not work.

With that link that would cover the price and have some good wiggle room for shipping.

Now what is your opinion on GeForce GT220 1GB and the Diamond Multimedia Viper ATI Radeon HD3650 512MB?

Reply to Gr8one374

Now I was wrong on my PSU, I only have a 350W max PSU. Will the 4850 still work or do I need a better PSU?

this chart is great. the 3650 & 220 would work at low/megium. not worth it. get at least gt240 or 3870 & it would still play iffy.

ati4770 but wants 450watt:

5670 for $90 and one review says works with 300watt psu. based on chart, this is roughly equal to my old 8800gt which played cod5 great.

the 4850 is still best (refer to chart), but need at least a good (corsair, enermax, silverstone, etc) 400watt psu.

I have owned the same 4850 MayDay recommended (sapphire) for about 2 years now. Plays every game out currently on max settings at 1680x1050 with AA. Crysis with no AA on high. for reference; cpu is a 3.4ghz C2D.
Great card for $100.

benchmarks in cod 5&6. as said, 4850 best but you'll need new power supply. if you're going to keep that presumably el cheapo 350watt, i would reccommend the 5670.

"For folks who don't want to upgrade their power supply, the Radeon HD 5670 does offer the fastest reference card performance you'll find without connecting a dedicated power cable."

Well I really appreciate the help on making my decision. I ended up buying the 4850 and another 460W PSU. Now I just got to wait for it to arrive. Again, Thanks for your help!!

decent choice by buyin 4850

good move. the 4850 will blow away your HD3650 256MB. it'll be night and day playing cod. you'll be able to crank all the eye candy. good luck and enjoy!

I too have an Inspiron 530 and I recently got a Radeon 5770, It will handle those games perfectly, although the price is a little bit steep, it's a great buy for what you get! It can play Crysis MAXED out no problems at all!

good luck with ATI drivers, I got a 4750 some time ago and had a heck of a time with driver/game compatability, got a GTX260+ and no problems, but trying to run a good card with that PSU is not a good idea, even with a 460 watt, I am assuming it is not a brand name unit, you have no safety margin
