I just bought a Shuttle XPC SB51G. I'm building this pc for my little brother who only use it for school work and surfin the net. I decided not to get a video card and use the onboard Intel 845G graphic chipset instead. My problem is that whenever I install the video driver everything works out just fine. After I turn off or reset the PC, the onboard Intel graphic adapter disappears and windows XP tells me that it found a new VGA adapter and defaults to it. I tried going into the display setting to adjust the display properties, but I just see the generic VGA adapter instead of the Intel one. Another weird thing is, In Device Manager, the display adapter displays the onboard Intel 845G. After I uninstall this adapter and reinstall the Intel driver, everything works fine again. But like I said, after I turn off or reset the PC, the onboard Intel graphic disappears again! I'm been playing with it for hours and just about to give up and go buy a video card. If anyone came across this problem can help out, I'll be greatly appreciated.

The system:
Shuttle XPC SB51G
Intel Celeron 2.6Ghz
Corsair 256mb DDR333
Seagate 80gig HD
Memorex 52X24X52X CDR
Windows XP Home Ed.

Sounds like some preset configeration in the Bios or O/S.

DCB is probably right. Look in the bios and see if the onboard video is disabled

I've already check the Bios, and I have enable the onboard video. In windows display property, I would disable the generic VGA adapter. Once I did that, the onboard Intel video would work fine. It just after I reset the PC, Windows would default to the generic VGA adapter again. For some reason I think Windows is overwriting the onboard video with a generic one. I have also installed the newest driver directly from Intel website.

Check registery for errors. The easiest way to fix these faults if your not a technician is to first - try this.

On a new formatted partition instal your O/S (dual boot) and see if the fault occurs. If it's fixed, you know the problem.

If its not, it is probably but not limited to a bios fault.
Also, note that sometimes you have to flash or upgrade the bios twice - first time does not always work.
