I'm building a system for a friend...I've actually never used this ASUS board before...so I assume this is part of the problem...I can not get Windows XP to install...it goes throught the loading drivers/files portion then when it reads "Setting up Windows" it simply shuts the system down. I was able to load Windows 98 on no problem..but couldn't even upgrade from it to XP. I read somewhere about changing the HAL...I did the F5 during the loading portion...but still it didn't work...any idea on what the problem would be?

I'm assuming that you are building with everything brand new
Such as: Hard disk
Are you using a new Hard disk with that motherboard? if so, do you keep ur old IDE cable to connect ur hard drive and motherboard?

Everything is new...motherboard, harddrive, cables, etc.
