changing motherboards

I would like to know what I need to do when I update my motherboad and processor. I am updating to an Intel 865perl with hyperthreading from an Intel D850 gb 1700. Do I need to remove any programs from my computer first. I could really use the help. Also would I be better to use the new Intel 875 board. Thanks Mike
