I have built a computer for my neigbors. They have non-powered speakers (2) when connected up to line out jack of their GA-7VT600 1394 the volume is quite low even with all the controls turned all the way up. The sound is also reversed. Thoughts on fixing this or could it be the result of the speakers being non-powered volume wise that is.

Non-Powered speakers are only to be used with amplified soundcards, something that was popular back in the SB16 days.

I'd trash the thing, tell your neighbors if they were stupid enough to buy a VIA chipset motherboard they don't need your help.
