I'm using NETGEAR WGR614 router and WG511 PC card.
When I enable 'Allow Broadcast of Name (SSID)' everything works fine
(internet and file sharing). When I disable it I can watch it on the
Status tab (WG511) Signal Strength goes to 100% and then it continues to
scan the next channel. It looks like that the SSID cannot be matched. But
I've checked and re-enter the SSID many times. Nothing changed.
As far as I can recall, it was working without SSID broadcast before
(without DSL-modem/ internet sharing).

I have no direct experience with your router or PC card, but perhaps this
may help:
1. Did you re-enter matching SSID's on *both* devices? A leading or
trailing non-printing character might be there ... and of course both must
have matching case.
2. I always leave broadcast SSID turned on. A non-broadcast SSID is very
easily sniffed, so hiding it offers little security. Also, by broadcasting
the SSID, you tell anybody doing a channel scan that you have already set
up shop on this channel and lessen the chance of interference.

You are right. When I turned off broadcast and it didn't work I thought I
could try to re-boot the client. When the client was up I saw on the
screen, where the PC card lists all found signals, it was showing the the
channel WITH its SSID. If I click on scan it will find the same channel
without SSID, very strange.
When I click on apply (no broadcast) on server side and scan on client, it
will find the SSID again.
I also read posting about recieving SSID without broadcast.
I know that no broadcast SSID is not a big security. But some magazines
recommend this because you can get little bit security for free. Then I
thought, why not?

If it brings down the performance then I should leave it on.
