Is a chat out of the question?

There are those of us who would like a chat room. I believe it would help to cut down the trolling and flaming on the forums.

Perhaps there are reasons why THGC hasn't had one up until now. I'd appreciate a response on this matter, if for no other reason than to prove to me that you are still running the show, and intend to promote THGC as a decent hardware forum.

Most forums have a chatroom, and the problems are no worse than the ones we have at the moment. I do not include the "other" section in my post. That section is a place for off-topic stuff, and that's fine.

In short (and I feel I speak for more than just a few people), there's far too much crap being posted these days, and not enough help or effort going out. Valued members have left, and to attract them or new members to the site, there needs to be a feeling of control in place.

I feel this is partly due to a lack of forum management by the THGC webmasters (whoever they all are).

Needless to say, this is not a rant, nor a moan. This is a request by a member of your forum to make your opinion heard, and to reassure your members that you value their membership.

a chat room sounds way off the purposs of toms HARDWARE guide. it would creat way more work. unnecessary work too. people come here to get help, and find info. the others forum is the closest thing to a chat room which is more than enough. there are things like msn and yahoo Messenger for those who want to chat.

What of the lack of forum control on flaming/trolling/off topic stuff. Any chance of some initiatives being taken by 'the management' on that?
