Here's the story:

A friend bought a new system last autumn, here's the config.:
Asus A7V600 (on-board sound chip and network chips)
AMD 2500+ (Barton)
512MB PC-2700 Kingston ValueRAM
Maxtor DiamondMAX SATA HDD - 80GB 7200 RPM
Diamond Viper770 TNT2 (this is not a part of the new system... you guessed right)
WinXP Pro (a perfectly legal version)

A few weeks later, the system stopped booting Windows correctly (it rebooted itself from the Windows welcome screen, the one with that blue progress bar). We tried every booting mode (failsafe etc.) and we tried another mem., HDD, video card... We had to reinstal Windows.

1 week later, the same problem appeared. It began with the same symptoms and it ended with the screen that doesn't even turn on at boot-up... We changed the board, re-installed Windows and bingo!

About a month later, here we are with the same original problem, the computer reboots itself from that welcome screen (there's a flash of a blue screen before reboot)

Any ideas? I'm clueless...

Thanks a lot!

I used to have that problem on a VIA chipset board, but they fixed it after several BIOS and driver revisions. It took around 2 years.

Some generic P/S that came with a case (60$CAN for the kit)...

You think that it could be the source of the problem?
