Ive just bought a GA-8KNXP and am trying to set up a raid with my 2 x 160 gig WD Raptors.
Both Raptors are set to "single or Master" by removing the jumpers. It sais in the manual "Two hard drives that form a RAID 1 have to be attached as the same master or slave hard disk"
I have 1 40 pin ATA cable which the green end is pluged into the green IDE3 slot on the motherboard the cable then loops up to the first harddrive and then serial to the next.
When I boot up i press control G to get into the raid setup and select automatic configuration, then select RAID 1. Unfortunately every single RAID setup sais that
"Drives in Array ................ 0"
and when I try to Save (control Y) that aray setup it states.
"Array configuration error!! Please choose another array type. Press any key to continue..."
Ive checked all the cables. They are in properly. What else could be the problem????\
Thanks for the help,
in my software, you have to add the drives to the array - until you do that there will be 0 drives in it. If the drives are unavailable for adding, maybe they have to be pugged to a different connector?
Also, you said you plugged both drives into the same cable, but you also said you set both of their jumpers to Master / Single. If they're on the same cable, you need one as Master and one as Slave. If you have them both set as Master, then the channel will be unable to detect either of them.
