Does anyone know of any stability/compatibility issues regarding this <subj.> chipset and for instace ati-, creative-, nVidia-cards, etc.?

I have had major troubles with both VIA and SIS chipsets in the past.. mainly the "typical" winxp-blues' "irq steering blabla", "irq not less or equal", "blablablabla". All directed back to the chipset being c**p. I've stuck with intel any chance I had, but I am kinda hoping they've come around(?).

Any exp. on that perticular chipset?

All of the systems I've built using the 645DX have been 100% problem free.

Cool! thnx a lot (crash-)man :) I mostly had issues regarding sis/via chipsets and nvidia/sb!live in various combos.

I will definately check it out.. my reason is a cheap upgrade from my current i845 and pc-133 configuration. I may have an awardwinning ultra-stabile bandwidth-optimal board.. but what is that when you can't overclock?! ;) so.. I am going for: <A HREF="http://www.asrock.com/product/product_pepro-ht.htm" target="_new">http://www.asrock.com/product/product_pepro-ht.htm</A>
From my current <A HREF="http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/wn/index.htm" target="_new">http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/wn/index.htm</A>

Yes.. I have no "real" money for an udgrade.. and yes, I know I ought to but an 800fsb cpu and a dual ddr-config. But if you know of a better board that uses a newer chipset on the sd/ddr-optional config / same prizerange, please let me know

10 do you have all the answers I don't have?
20 yes, of course.
30 thanks for the input

Don't know much about that board, but *wow* supports both DDR and SDR SDRAM.

The board I'm most familiar with is the P4S533 (and -E version), my friends P4S533-E works perfectly even with DDR400 running at 2x the CPU bus.

heh... was that meant ironic? :D no matter.. it's a nice "gateway"-upgrade.

hmm... the P4S533-E looks like a nice board.. but I would not but a "pure" ddr board that did not support dual-ddr. I have read that the sis645dx unofficially supports ddr400 too.. :) that's so nice, considering the prize of it. At 2x the cpu bus? so you recon I could make them run 400mhz on an 133mhz bus (oc'ed from 100)?

His 1.8A ran at 1.8(400)/400 and 2.4(533)/400 with DDR500@400.

Finally they replied...! the board was unavaible; they were only leading the standard SIS645 boards. I have been looking, as adviced, at the Msi 655 Max. But the price of it has just gone up like 20% or so, so I actually ended up getting the AOpen AX4SPE-UN w. the I865PE chipset, which was just 15-20USD more, with 512mb Elexir ddr400 cas3 5.0ns

I don't know what happened to cas2 ram lately, but the pricez are nutz, so I will just settle for three more sticks of it in the end.. hell, 2048mb ddr400 in dual running cas 2.5 (i hope!) should be liveable ;)

Thanx for the help :)
