I'm interested in building myself a computer based PVR and Media Server box and I've been reading a lot about the new Media Center 2005. Has anybody used this yet and does anybody know if you can use it to transcode it's raw video recording format into Divx or another MPEG-4 Codec? Several reviews says that it can transcode in the background but Microsofts website says it records in a propriatry format that can't be reencoded so I'm confused.

Does anybody know where to get a good general guide to a build your own PVR? Particularly lists of what you can use?
