Hi all,

I'm looking at upgrading my aging mobile system and have a few questions:

Q1: Under what circumstances would PCI-X be worth having? I don't have serious IO requirements, so I'm wondering if I should bother.

Q2: Does anyone know of a motherboard that supports:

DDR400
AGP 8x Pro
PCI-X 133Mhz, + 100/133Mhz PCI 64 bit
SATA
800Mhz FSB

(+ other misc others eg. FW800 would be nice, 10/100/1000 ethernet, USB 2 etc)

Thanks,

Tom.

None of the things you mention are for mobile systems. All this is worth having if your running something other than a desktop.

Q1: If your running a server or workstation, and need high speed cards for networking or raid controllers.

Q2: Tyan Thunder K8W (S2885) $450
[Dual Opteron 800fsb,8x AGP Pro,DDR400,PCI-X,SATA
[3 USB, Gigabit Ethernet, FW400 [Could add FW800]
