Excessive screen tearing and discoloration?

About two months ago I was able to play Dragon Age at max settings with none of this happening, the screen tearing is really excessive and then about 5 minutes into the game everything turns blue, black, red almost like a rainbow. Then it will freeze or the screen will get like where all text is unreadable, almost all black my character is blue but the game still functions at or around 50FPS.

Things I've done:
1. Formatted harddrive
2. Restarted windows XP
3. Downloaded newest drivers

Computer runs off an E6600, 8800GTX and 2GBs of RAM...

Bad video card or a bad vga/dvi cable.

Also, the nvidia 196.75 drivers were bad. If you used those you may have destroyed your card.

No I use 196.21. And *** alright but if the card was bad would I still be getting FPS's that high?

Amazingly what seemed to help is putting the physics back on my CPU and disabling the GPU's phyx thingy.
