Ok, my chipset fan crapped out on me yesterday and I am debating on replacing it or even if I should be running my computer w/o it. I have a Gigabyte GA-8IEXP and a P4 2.26. My case is an Antec case w/ 5 case fans, and the one fan one the Power Supply. So, should I replace the fan or just not worry about it.

I'm not sure how stable that 845 chip will be without a fan... most of the "passive" heat sinks are larger than the active sinks, so you probably should consider replacing the heat sink with something bigger if you don't want to buy a new fan.

What happened to the fan? If it just started squeaking, try pealing the label on top of the fan up on one edge and put a drop of oil on the shaft. Then carefully replace the label so the oil doesn't spray around. That usually works to keep the fan working quietly for another 6 months or so...
