Which chipset drivers should I use with my A7N8X deluxe MoBo ? the ones from ASUS ? or the ones from the Nvidia site.

As you can see from sig, I have a diff mobo. So, go here and navigate to the section for your mobo. Look for a driver section also (near top of "home").

I've researching this for my board- keep an eye for problems re: the SW IDE driver. You will prolly want to stick with the MS IDE controller (chipset) driver especially if have optical drives

Either or. Like the other guy said, be weary of the SW IDE drivers.

I've been using a remix driver set for awhile now. They usually contain the best driver for each nForce component. Also, I'd imagine that we're going to see some new drivers with the lauch of nForce3 250 so soon (their nForce drivers on a unified architecture, too).

I'm using the SW IDE driver bundled with 3.13 UDP for more than 3 months. Zero problems so far

I haven't any problems either, but the issue does seem to depend upon certain combinations of hardware. Basically, I say try them, and if you have problems, use the In-the-box.

The revision shouldn't matter, as all of the nForce boards use a unified driver. You could just grab the 3.13s from nVidia's page. The remix I'm using is very similar to the 3.13. There's a slight boost in performance using this Remix one, but nothing remotely detectable when playing a game or something. I'd go with the 3.13s, unless you're intrigued by the remix  .

Remix
# Audio driver 4.08 => With the 4.09 driver on Windows update I lost the ability to adjust the volume on individual speakers. This one also gives me the best performance when using EAX in games.
# Audio utilities 4.08
# Ethernet driver 3.39 (WinXP WHQL) => The latest ethernet driver caused CPU spikes, which ruined my CPU's idle temp.
# GART driver 3.43 (WHQL)
# MemCtl driver 3.38 (WHQL)
# SMBus driver 3.43 (WHQL)
# IDE driver (In-the-box) 3.58 (WHQL)
# SW IDE 3.66 (WHQL)

Can you tell me where you got them from, or is it something that you just D/L sep on the net. It looks to me with the GART driver being an updated version, that that would be where the performance (albiet slight) would come from.

Thanks for you detailed reply, it helps.

Gary.

This is the site where I got mine from. I'm using the "Morpheusware Remix for Burn Trouble" because it contains the 3.66 SW IDE driver, and the other ones contain the 3.44, which my burner had trouble with.
