Hi, I'm using a USB speedtouch modem under SUSE 9.1, I've followed the intructions given here : http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2002/05/configSpeedTouch.html
but everytime I try to connect with KInternet I get the error message telling me "Exit Code 1", I went to see in the man pages of pppd (wich is what kinternet is using apparently), and I can't see anything about that. Can anyone give me a hint on this?

thanks

Not sure if this is relavent...but is there a command equivalent to 'pppoeconf' in SuSe 9.1? I know all I had to do was run ppoeconf in <A HREF="http://"http://mepis.org" target="_new">MEPIS Linux</A> and it configured my USB modem no problem.

However, I also realize that the MEPIS kernel has been modified to support such modems. If <A HREF="http://"http://www.suse.com/us/index.html"" target="_new">SuSe</A> hasn't, you'll have to recompile the kernel making sure to add 'n_hdlc.o' module when compiling. There is a page supporting this on sourceforge: <A HREF="http://linux-usb.sourceforge.net/SpeedTouch/" target="_new">http://linux-usb.sourceforge.net/SpeedTouch/</A>

Another thing that worked for me before MEPIS had n_hdlc.o support in the kernel was to fake out the OS into thinking I had a static IP. I changed my IP to the one given to me by the provider and chose 'use static IP' in my network settings. You may give that a go if you can.

Cheers,
