I'm about to put this system together and I'm curious what you guys think I should be seeing as far as framerates.

Specs:

Psu: Corsair 750HX
Mobo: Biostar TA 780g M2+
CPU : 95watt Phenom II 945 Deneb 3.0GHZ x4
GPU : Sapphire Vapor-x 5770 1gb
RAM : G-Skill 4gb ddr2 dual channel 1066mhz 5-5-5-15
HD : HDD Samsung 500gb Spinpoint f3
OS : Win7 64 bit

What sort of framerates should I expect on Crysis at 1920x1080 res

Thanks

30fps if you lucky

30 - 36 FPS, depending on whether you have AA enabled or not.

The limiting factor for Crysis with your setup will be your graphics card (rather than trying to mate a 5770 with an Intel Atom!), so it's pretty easy to predict how you'll do from the 5770 reviews - you'll be moving almost the same number of pixels as the 1920x1200 line on this graph:

So just add a little (a little under 10%) onto that line's scores to reflect the fact you're running at 1080 height rather than 1200 and you'll have your likely FPS.

Overclock the CPU to at least 3.4Ghz and raise the GPU clocks 10/15% and you should get a few more frames to play with...

I know I'll be chastised for this but that 128bit memory interface on that card will hold you back as far as Crysis goes. If you do get 30FPS you'll find it'll be choppy quite often especially at that resolution. And don't think about turning on aa. Overclocking anything will not help you here. I found a card with more than 1gig of memory to be best... nvidia.... and I have a 5850 that plays it well too. Not sure about the ice part though.

shame on you for bringing up the 128bit memory issue!

That is not an issue, the card can run crysis at playable frames if you up the CPU and GPU clocks ( NO xAA and settings on "mainstream/medium" ) . Of course there will be scenes where the card will bog down and you will notice some lag, this of course is inevitable, it happens to me as well and I play at 1680x 1050.

Should I use ATI Overdrive to set the gpu clock? The stock settings for the gpu clock is 860mhz and the memory clock is at 1200mhz. How do I know what speeds to set it at?

Or is it just like you said....up them both 10% ....so that would be 946mhz on the gpu clock and 1320 mhz on the memory clock. Does that sound correct?

You are going to have to do a bit of research. Im not sure what the max OC is on the vapor x edition.

I normally raise them in increments till I get a BSOD, then I back off a bit and im done.

hmm I average about 25FPS on max 1920x1080 with Q6600 4GB ram and a 5870 but I thought I should get more so maybe I have hardware issues

Edit: Post removed. Ignore me, I thought I was replying to a thread about GTA4. Note to self - don't post after drinking!

The Q6600 will be holding it back, I assume it is at stock frequencies. Overclock to 3.2Ghz+ and you'll see a leap in FPS, the 5870 is a very capable card.
