Hey all,
I have seen this in the past but, asking now. I know people who have it and
others who said they tried many times to get it with no luck. Trying to get
the high speed internet connection with only using air time with out paying
$80 a month for it. I found a web site and came up with this.
This site was only updated a few months ago. This site tells me that comes
will all new subs from 2003. When I've called they give me a nope, not going
to happen. I have heard people getting it with out a problem. What is the
deal with this ? I would like this as the #777 thing is just way too slow to
do anything worthwild.
Any ideas on getting this activated on my account ? If there is, how do I
use it (what number do I use to connect, etc) ?
Thanks in advance !

Your phone needs to have Get It Now via National Access (Express Network)
capability. CS should enable NA-MOU if you call and ask for such feature so
that you can browse and download GIN apps.

I was getting at using it with a laptop or PDA to get better speeds. People
were talking about getting it for only air time only. Is this possable ?

Yes. Call tech support and ask to have America Connect/Express Network
enabled for airtime. If you call the regular customer support number,
you will either be transferred to tech support (if the support droid has
a clue) or will be told it's impossible (if no clue).

Of course it's possible, and millions of people have it, There are a few
people that don't have it, don't know how to get it, and are very vocal in
saying that it's not possible. Hint, it is a FEATURE on a current plan (NOT
A PLAN OF IT'S OWN!), it is *NOT* listed on the website!, most people at the
store will misinform you and tell you it's not available (not a lie, they
just don't know, and since it's free, and they make no commission adding
something for free instead of selling you a plan they make a commission on,
guess what they are told about (( only what they make money on)) and what
they push?). Because of the false information being pushed, you may have to
contact CS a few times until you get a 'yes', and get it added to your plan
in a few seconds for free. Unlike other features where you get a firm yes or
no right away, you usually have to go thru a few no's until you get a yes.

Yes, it's possible and, like you said in your original post, many people are
doing it--including me. First of all look on your bill to see if you have a
"feature" called "National Access." If you do, then you already have the
service and you just need a cable and to follow the directions on the
webpage that you listed in your original post. If you don't currently have
NA, then you need to call VZW and get them to add it to your account. It
doesn't cost anything, but like it's always mentioned here, either some/many
VZW reps don't know how to add it (so you'll have to keep calling to get
someone else) or try to get through to tech support as Michael mentions and
have them do it. I'm not sure, but it may be a regional thing still so it
also just might be that you can't get it yet in your area. But I thought VZW
got everyone on the same billing system recently (who knows??) so I think
you should be able to get it. It was automatically added to my plan when I
bought a phone and signed on to VZW in March of this year.

The posters dead on. I had to call 4 times to get it activated. The reples
ranged from: "never heard of it" to "that'll be an $80 add on". etc.. Keep
trying.

Unless things have changed in the last couple of months, the key is to
mention that you have a new phone and need to have the National Access
feature enabled so GetItNow will work at the higher speeed. Similar if
you have a camera phone. NEVER mention tethering it to a PC, or you will
get railroaded into a Data *PLAN* of some sort (for many $$).

Right, but they are related. If your phone can download GIN applications at
high speed, it can also do National Access at high speed.
If your phone *can't* download GIN apps at high speed, call CS and complain
about that, and NEVER mention to them that you want to use it as a modem.
If they seem clueless, mention that you heard you need National Access-MOU
for it to work, but, I repeat, NEVER mention to them that you want to use
it as a modem.

If I tell them "I don't think my GIN is downloading at how speed" and
they "Why do you think that?", what would I tell them?

I have NA-MOU, a GIN app, and the web service, but vzw3G gives me an
authentication error. What exactly do I ask for?

Just out of curiosity, what are you using? That's the same error you get if
you have the userid or password wrong. Should be
Userid= (10 digit phone number)@vzw3g.com Password= vzw (note there are no
dashes in the 10 digit phone number and lower case on the password)

Further research on the net resolved the issue. It turns out that I
needed to specify a different modem initialization string for EN than
for QN.

Cool, are you using Mobile Office? It would be handy to know. That has the
strings built in, but I hear you need em, and have to manually install em
for other software.

Update: I checked my bill under features. it indicated that National Access
was declined. I called Tech Support (no need to waste time calling CS. Tech
Support can be reached directly from the *611 menu options) and told them my
attempt to download GIN apps was timing out. They activated the feature,
just play dumb and tell them, when they ask, you have a least 3 or more
bars with no flucuations showing on your phone. (anything less and they'll
claim you don't have enough reception coverage in your area to download GIN)
They told me to reboot the phone, that I would be good to go, and to have a
pleasant day. Hehehe!
Thank you all for this thread. This is the best news this week since winning
