From what I can gather the release of PCI-express will make only a small splash in the performance department (for the time being anyways). So will people who buy new PCI-express boards be able to use current vid cards like 9800s and 5900s?

And how soon will ddr2 compatibility make it to boards? will they be on this almost legendary "next generation" everyone is talking about for this spring/summer?

As for PCI-express, there will be special connectors that will enable you to put AGP cards into PCI-X MOBOs.
And as for the DDR2 - yes, it will appear in the new nV cards coming out soon (nv40 and up) and the new Radeons (R420 and up) will have DDR3 memory.

AGP doesn't work with PCI-Express. But some board or chipset makers could implement an AGP-PCIe bridge, which would allow them to put and AGP slot on the board and use it as a PCI-Express card via that bridge.
