Need help finding a MoBo

I liked the workstation mentioned in <A HREF="http://www20.tomshardware.com/column/200402201/index-02.html" target="_new"> this article </A>, I had to wonder and try to price the system, but all the Motherboards I have found only support 1x AMD 64FX but 2xOpterons. Does it matter if I were to put in 2 AMD 64FX's. Cause I would seriously think of buying this if I could make it cheap enough.

I tried newegg.com first place I tried then resellerratings.com and at newegg.com I found <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=13-130-436&DEPA=1" target="_new"> this</A> and it said this, "Supported CPU: Socket 940 for Dual AMD Opteron 200 or <i><b>Single Athlon-64 FX51</b></i>/Opteron 100/200 Processors." The single 64 FX51 part, is the part that bothers me.

Also, it says FX51, and I haven't found an FX53 Dual MoBo

The Athlon FX51 chips are essentially Opteron 148's with unlocked multipliers. They don't do SMP (at least I've yet to hear of anyone finding a workaround that lets them so far...).

If you want to run 2 cpu's in that board your ONLY choice is a pair of Opteron 2** chips (I guess you might be able to use 8** chips but that would be silly.). The 248's run at the same speed as the FX51's I believe (2.2GHz).

Yes, the 8**'s are meant for 4-8 way smp systems and of course carry an additional premium price I'm sure.

Hehe... Well death does indeed suck but when you're dead you don't (ie can't) care. Unless you're religious (which your comment implies) in which case you're screwed for eternity. Unless you lead your life to the letter of whatever system you adhere to AND you choose the 'right' one. >

I'm not afraid of going to the 'other place' cause I will convert to buddhism or shintoism and come back as either a bug or a tree ^_^
