Here are the minimum specs for far cry 2. CPU: Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz, Pentium D 2.66 Ghz, AMD Athlon 64 3500+ or better
RAM: 1 GB
Video card: NVidia 6800 or ATI X1650 or better; shader Model 3 required; 256 Mb of graphic memory
Media reader: DVD-ROM
Hard drive space: ~12 Gig or HD space. (tbd)

These are the recommended specs CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo Family, AMD 64 X2 5200+, AMD Phenom or better
RAM: 2 GB
Video card: NVidia 8600 GTS or better, ATI X1900 or better; 512 Mb of graphic memory
Sound: 5.1 sound card recommended.

I think that you would be able to play Far Cry quite easily.

Your GPU (8400GS) is below the minimum specs of Far Cry 2 (NVidia 6800). Even the 8500GT is one tier below the 6800.
Try to run it on minimum settings and minimum resolution, maybe it will run then. Be patient for the 4850.

Those listed specs usually should be met by a great deal - meeting those requirements doesn't make it playable for high action intensive gaming scenarios but it's playable, just expect alot of lag with the current setup. With your new graphics card it'll be good, but you'll need more RAM, too. Use the specs as a guideline to help you understand where you need to be as far as your setup and use the game's preferences to find a mediocre resolution without losing too much eyecandy.

Take into mind that keeping your hard drive clean (defragging, keeping 2/3 of the HDD free, closing unncessary programs) significantly increase ingame performance. Hope this helps.
