[LG4400, version 11, latest PRL]
Over the weekend, I found that while out of town, I was able to receive a
better signal on my LG4400 when I forced CDMA, versus allowing the phone to
choose. (Yes, sometimes it would choose Analog.) My question is this, does
"CDMA" all the bands that digital carriers use -- including PCS and
cellular?

As I understand it, yes. If you force "cell", it would stick to the
800 MHz CDMA frequencies. If you force "PCS", it would do the
opposite and only search in the 1900 MHz PCS bands.
I've noticed the 4400 tends to hang onto a strong analog signal vs. a
weaker digital signal at times...if I'm driving around and it does
this, a force to CDMA (800/1900) usually clears it up immediately,
even if I go back to automatic afterwards.

Mike,
Thanks for the info. I am still a little confused, though, as I have the
following options for forcing:
- Automatic
- Cell only
- PCS only
- CDMA only
- Analog only
- P_REV 4 Only
- P_REV 3 Only
My goal is to ensure I am skipping Analog only, as I want to force only
digital. Is there such a setting based on the options above?

"CDMA only"...

I ran my vx-4400 set to "CDMA" for at least the last year I used it.
Essentially you are disabling analog when you set it that way. It still
works on both bands.
That is also one of the reasons I had no reservations about upgrading to the
digital only vx-4500. In essence my vx-4400 was "digital only" for a year
and I never missed having analog capability.
