XP Pro Stops XP Home Installs??

Does anyone know if it is possible to do clean install of XP Home over XP Pro? I am trying and it just seems to hang just after it does the hardware configuration and just prior to where it scans for another OS or reformating the drive (see "Windows Install Question" in this forum for full description). It says "SETUP IS STARTING WINDOWS", and then nothing happens. If I let the OS load from the HDD and then pop the disk in to try to install it that way (rather than booting to the CD), it says that you can't install Home over Pro...or something to that effect). Will F-Disk help or will I still be stuck? How can I easily totally wipe out everything on the hard drive (for free)? Thanks as always!
