So I decided to build my own.. Heres what I got:
AMD64 3000
Gigabyte K8NNXP
Couple sticks Crucial Ram etc.

Built it the first time... would power up for 2 seconds & shut down.
Thought it was the power supply... bought a tester... no problem when I bypass the mobo, everything lights up and runs except the cpu fan which is hooked up to the mobo.
Figured it was a short in the mobo... sent it back... got the new one... did it all again.... same thing.

Any ideas?... could it be a bad cpu? Any way to test it? This stuff isn't that complicated and I've double checked all the connections....

I really don't want to bring this into Comp Usa & have them laugh at me

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Here's a link to a THG article on common reasons it won't post. This can say it all better than I, so have a look.

EDIT: Take the mobo out of the case, with just cpu (with HSF), ram, and vid card. See if it'll post. The mobo may be grounded to the case. You hearing any beep codes? If so, what?
