I have some spare parts including a "pre-xp" 1.4Ghz Athlon CPU. I'm considering building my wife a PC based on a Biostar iDEQ200N mini-pc bare bone.

In all the specs for the biostar it only refers to Athlon XP CPU's.

I just wanted to confirm that the system would be compatable with my old Athlon socket A CPU. Any comments on the iDEQ200N would also be apreaciated.

These 1.4GHz T-bird are really hot chip. I dont think that it is a good idea to put them in mini barebone PC. They might overheat and the system will be unstable. XP are way cooler that T-bird, so more suitable for barebone system. Maybe that why they dont recommend them.

that's a good point. I have noticed that my main sytem runs much cooler since I upgraded from that old 1.4Ghz chip to an XP chip.

I was just hoping to find something to do with the old cpu so it would not go to waste.

Sell your 1.4 on E-Bay. They are still fetching a good buck there. The 200mhz FSB will sell for more than a 2500XP. The 133mhz FSB will go for 20% less.
