Hi. Im getting a new computer soon and was thinking about getting the ASUS P4C800E Deluxe as this board seems to have all the features im looking for. It is based on the i875P chipset, has SATA, gigabit lan, 6 channel sound and so on. What are ppl thoughts of this board or if they have any suggestions for a similar board. I want to use this new computer for many things such as gaming, surfing the net, compiling and other things so it has to be able to go with a CPU that will be able to do all these things. It also needs to be able to last for a while and be able to have so ability to upgraded.

Thx

It has more problems than many cheaper, equally featured boards. I'm sure someone here will let you know of a better board based upon their experience.

I just built a system around a P4C800-E deluxe. P4 3.0GHz Northwood core/retail, 1Gb OCZ memory, Asus 9600XT video card, Seagate 160Gb drive, Antec PSU. The system works perfectly... no issues whatsoever. My 1st choice was the IC7-Max3 but I was turned off by the inclusion of the extra fan/windtunnel for the v-regs. I need a quiet system for digital audio recording and this one delivers.

My first system has the P4C800-Delux. Was fine at stock speeds, unstable over clocked with PAT & Turbo on. Replaced enough parts to feel confident it was the mother board. With Turbo & PAT OFF it over clocks my P4 2.4C to 3.0 GHz without any stability issues.

Just put together a new system with the ABIT IC7 Max3. Haven't over clocked it yet, but it did well in 3D Mark 01, but hangs in 3D Mark 03 on mother nature. Other than the 3D Mark 03 issue it's been pretty good. With the PWM cooling it is supposed to OC better than the ASUS board. Jury’s still out.

I use the P4C800E-Deluxe with 3.0 GHz P4 Hyper Threading. 2*512 MB Kingston 400 MHz, 3 Maxtor 160 GB S-ATA, 1 Maxtor 160 Gb P-ATA, 1 100 GB WD P-ATA and MSI Nvidi 5950 Ultra 256 Mb GFX, Plextor 8X DVD burner and Plextor Premium 52x CD-Writer. Works perfectly, and Top of the line performance... I REALLY RECOMEND P4C800E-Deluxe, it's a good buy

I was thinking of putting on this board 2x512mb ram with a 3.0ghz P4 northwood, geforce fx5200 with two segate 80gb SATA hdd. Would i be getting the full benifite of such a good board with the above components or would i be better of getting the P4C800 or the P4C800 deluxe. The deluxe and e deluxe seem to be almost the same except the lan controler and that the deluxe does not have raid support on the south bridge. Would this matter to me as i dont intend to use raid (i have no idea wut it does or how i could use it) and will the differnt lan chip be a problem.

I just got the rest of the stuff from NewEgg to finish off my system, so soon I'll be able to tell you about this mobo ;) One thing I will say is that from the moment you open the package of the nice Asus P4C800 E-Deluxe packaging, you will definitely notice this is a high quality product. This is the first computer I've ever built, so I wanted to make sure I got good stuff and spent a little extra on this Asus mobo, I paid about $200 out the door with tax, not sure what it's running for now though.

I haven't heard any bad things about this motherboard, so to see the first response to this thread from Markgun say bad things, I was scared for a second. I wish he would elaborate as to what problems he had, because I've done a lot of research and heard many great things about this board, so I don't know where he's coming from.

I'm not exactly sure about the difference between the different mobo versions, I assumed the P4C800 E-deluxe was just the newer of the versions. I know the northbridge heatsink use to get in the way of some graphic cards, so they twisted it so that it gave more space.....I made sure to get that just so I wouldn't have to worry about things getting cramped.
