ati radeon 5770 1gb gddr5 ram

850 coolmax psu

i have a samsung t260hd monitor which has a max resolution of 1900x1200

my question is that i begin to lag with games like metro 2033 and gta 4 even when i set the settings down... i have meet and exceed the recommended requirements. also i don't lag in games such as company of heroes or just cause 2.

Try closing any tasks running in the background before you run the game. Seems that something is taking up system resources.

Dont judge by GTA IV, it is such a horrible port from the console version that for some reason it eats up cpus and gpus power like candy
are all of your drivers updated?
and try enabling vsync, and turning anti-aliasing down or off

Metro 2033 doesnt surprise me, especially if you are running in DX 11 (since the 5770 supports it, I assume it would default to dx11) that game will rip your system a new one on DX11.

max graphics no AA on a 5850 yields 41 max 33 min on a 5870. DX11 full featured with no AA my 5850 would only push 19 max 17 min fps on that game.

try forcing DX9 or 10, it should run alot better.

keep in mind minimum requirements doesnt mean playable per se it just means it will run. recommended means what they deem playable, that may different from what you deem playable.

That game looks damn sweet in full on DX11 though.
