I have a Mobile Barton 2600+ on my NF7-S, but I have two friends with just the NF7... will the Mobile Barton work on these boards? It has been hard to look this question up... everyone seems to have the NF7-S...

Of course, it's the exact same board -firewire, -SATA, and -SoundStorm. It even uses the same BIOS as the NF7-S.

Well... how to say this in a nice way... go to ABIT and read the specs... I am not sure if anything you said is true about these two motherboards...

How so? - = "minus," as in the plain NF7 DOESN'T have these features. They are the EXACT same aside from this. They both use the same BIOS and both unlock the 5th multiplier bit.

OK, I thought you were saying those items were the same...

I am not exactly sure what it is that lets some motherboards use the Mobile Barton while others cannot, so if the plain NF7 2.0 can use one, I will advide my to friends to sell their CPUs (if they can) and get the Mobile Barton...

Is there more evidence somewhere before I get my friends to spend their baby money... anyone with a NF7 using a Mobile Barton out there please post...

Sorry for wording that in such an unclear manner. There are tons of people at the nForcer's HQ forums who're running their mobiles in the plain NF7, if you want to post there for confirmation.

The barton mobile may post as "unknown cpu" with the nf7. But this is true for almost any nforce2 motherboard. The bios may not recognize the mobile cpu. You can use sisoft sandra to verify the actual speed.
