Boot from RAID

I have an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe MB
which has built in SATA RAID controller.

Configured them as a RAID 1 (Mirror)

Installed 2 60Gig SATA drives
Booted from CD, formated and installed WinXP
(I did install the SATA drives from floppy as needed.)

But now I can not get the BIOS settings such that it
will boot from the RAID.

The RAID controller IDs the drives as HDD-0, but none of
the settings seem to work.

Any ideas?

When I setup a GigaByte to boot from a RAID 0, there was a selection to boot from the RAID and it's worked flawless.

Help!

Don't have this board, so having to guess a bit(glanced at manual too first though), but try setting it to SCSI. the HDD selectiosn should refer to Parallel ata drives hooked to motherboard, SCSI should make it boot from the SATA raid controller.

Well I never got it to work iwth a mirrored RAID.

But when I re-configured and formated with a stripped RAID it has been worked w/o any problems.

So I am not sure why you can't boot from a MIRRORED RAID but the stripped works well with with the A7N8X MOBO

It doesn't matter. With SCSI set as First Boot Device, the SATA drives will boot first, no matter if an IDE HDD is hooked up or not. I had the very same settings with the very same mobo, and it worked fine that way.
