Hi all!

Don´t know whether this is the correct forum to post my Q. I´ll do so anyway.
Thinking about building a shuttle barebone system (still not sure whether A64 or P4). The PSU which comes with the system is either 220W or 250W. My Q: Is it possible to fit a radeon 9700 or 9800 pro in this system??

Help is very much appreciated.

cheers all!!!

Radeon 9700/9800 Pro is too much for 220W/250W PSU.

Radeon 9600 Pro is a good choice

SO I've always believed, but my experiences, and the testing in the x800 review here, and other reviews, show that's not true. Overall wattage wise, if the PSU truly puts out 220-250W, then it would run these cards fine(9800XT was at 180w if memory serves according to that article). Whether or not these Achme(or however it's spelled) PSUs deliver sufficient amperage on each particular rail is the question you really need to answer. COurse, then first you have to figure out what your usage needs on each rail.

You'd be better off with a real Micro ATX system than a shrunk down version. If you need portability consider a Micro ATX slim tower, if you plan on using it in a home theater consider a Micro ATX desktop.
