Dual processor system for DV editing

I've been reading whatever I could find at tomshardware about dual processor systems. My background for this is that I want to speed up DV editing in Adobe applications like Premiere, Photoshop and After Effects. Adobe claims that these applications are optimized for dual systems. Many plug-ins to AE However also recomend dual systems. However, I find very little information on how dual processor systems actually perform with these applications. Does anybody have any knowledge about this or know where such information might be found?
