I am thinking about doing a temporary upgrade to my system, which currently consists of a Gigabyte KT266A mobo, 768MB OCZ PC2400 Ram, AMD 1600+, and a Radeon 7500 Card.

I saw this motherboard, SOYO "SY-KT600 DRAGON PLUS V1.0" KT600, on newegg with free shipping after mail-in rebate for only $38.99!!!!

I believe Soyo makes pretty good boards, just curious on everyones experience that actually owns it.

I figure this would allow me to upgrade all the way to a 400FSB processor in the future as prices come down. I may put a AMD 2600+ in it for now as well. Then some day when I can get the AMD 3400+ 400FSB for under $100, then i'll upgrade to that. I'm also curious with the PC2400 Ram from OCZ, if that can handle the 333FSB?

Thanks, James

It is not a good overclocking board... there is no pci/agp lock, so you are stuck at close to 133/166/200 settings... there is no VCore adjustments... so unless you will be content with 200 or 205 fsb and have no problem using wire mods to increase VCore, avoid this board...

But if you want to get a cpu designed to run at 200fsb or 166fsb, and you are content with that, then this can be a stable board...

I used one to build a computer for my father-in-law in the fall, and I am running an unlocked 2400+ at 166fsb and about 2100 MHz total speed using the default 1.65 VCore... it has been very stable for him... it has been running with a Sapphire ATI 9100...

And for $40, it seems like a great board... I do have a closet love for Soyo, even though I have turncoated to ABIT...

I don't really overclock. I may want to bump up the FSB about 5 total, but that's about it. So instead of 166, I may set it at 170, but that would be the max. I should be able to do that with this board right? Maybe not with the memory though.

Frankly, I cannot remember... I think there is just a jumper for 133/166/200 and that is it... but I do not remember if there is a way to increase the fsb in the bios... I do remember there not being a Vcore adjustment in the bios, however...
