Is there any way to test the motherboard to see if it is locked in at 33 for my hard drive .I have checked the Bios and it says it is locked in but I have lost 7 hard drives in less than a year. I know the manufactor is getting tired of my RMAs Four WD1200jb and now the third WD740. Any help would be appreciated The mother board is a Ga8knxp

Western Digital usually sends you a refurbished drive to replace your defective one. And the "refurbished" drive they send is usually a repaired drive someone else returned. And the problem that put the drive out of commission the first time also returns! My solution is: If I have to get a WD drive replaced, I put the replacement in a refurbished computer and SELL IT BEFORE IT DIES!

Check your voltage/current (getting shots?)
Check to see just how hot are the getting?
Do you have the placed upsidedown or vertical-this kills lots of drives.
