The number of good items I've gained in the Pit over two and a bit seasons can
be counted on one hand. But today I joined an agdhell game in progress, to
find the jabber-assin working his way down to Mephisto. I went off to
gather some skeletons, and then joined him down there. For some reason the
hired help decided to engage the PI council boss that had somehow wandered
over and parked himself at the edge of the screen. Not noticing this
development, I had Decrepify on Meph rather than Amp, so of course the boss
remained PI and el merco took el nappo.

Fast forward to Mephisto dying otherwise nice and politely, whereupon he
dropped a couple of rares and some blues. Thinking not much more of it, I
wandered off to check out the sheet in the Pit. Wooley joined us about this
time with his paladin, and with orange-footed mercenaries and skeletons and
zealots, lots of traps, and two characters laying out corpse explosions, the
locals were easy pickings.

We headed on through without incident, nuked some boss nearing the way down to
level 2... and a gold caduceus drops.

A very rare victory for Team TC85, but a victory is a victory. :-)

Mephisto will have his revenge...

Since Wooley was the designated melee character for that game, he got the
Astreon's by default. I think he's quite pleased with his new mallet.

I'd say it's BETTER than Heaven's Light. Astreons has same attack speed(less
IAS, higher base speed), same CB, higher average damage cause of the magic
damage added and the +40-85 damage added(which also boosts Smite), slows
target, and huge AR boost. Also same skill boost, though only to combat
skills which isn't as good as Heaven's Light. Heaven's Light does have
inherent sockets, but as easy as it is to get a socket quest from Shenk,
unless HL has 2 sockets I don't consider that an advantage either.

It was a pleasing drop for three reasons. First, of course, is that we were
just noodling around in general play and found it (which I always like, rare
though I usually find it). Second of course is that it's a great item, and
once that I've never found before. But the main reason it is a really good
find is that Wooley's paladin had been having some troubles with assembling
gear (Wooley seems to be one of those "just play all areas and see what drops"
type players, although I don't know if he worries too much about the good
seed/bad seed situation)
